Is this an AI photo app?
No pixels are generated. Every eye and smile in a fixed photo comes from another shot you took. The app uses on-device face detection only to find where the eyes and mouth are, then lines up and blends the real pixels. That's why fixed photos are labelled as a composite, not as AI-generated. More about labels.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your photos and face data never leave your phone. There's no account and no cloud processing. See the privacy policy for the details.
Does it work with just one person?
Yes. Portraits, selfies and groups all work the same way: as long as there are at least two shots of the same moment.
How many photos can I use?
Between 2 and 9 shots of the same moment. More shots give the app more chances to find open eyes and a good smile.
Will my original photos be changed?
Never. Each fix is saved as a new photo. Your original shots stay exactly as they were.
Why is my fixed photo labelled as edited?
Because it is: it combines several moments into one. We think the people who see your photo should be able to tell. The label says it's a composite of your shots and how many eye and mouth regions were taken from other shots. It doesn't contain your name, your location or the other photos.
Can I remove the label?
The app doesn't offer that. Note that some apps and websites strip metadata when you share, so the metadata label and Content Credentials may not survive everywhere. The invisible watermark survives normal re-saving and cropping, but not resizing or deliberate removal.
Which phones are supported?
Android 8 and newer with Google Play services, and iPhone with iOS 18 and newer.
Why does the Android app need Google Play services?
Android's photo picker on older versions and the face detection model (Google ML Kit) are delivered through Google Play services. The detection still runs on your phone; your photos are not sent to Google.
Can I fix a face that's turned away or covered?
Only if that person looks good in one of your other shots. If they're hidden or turned away in all of them, the app tells you and leaves their face as it is.
Why does a fix sometimes look off?
Big head turns between shots, motion blur or a hand in front of the face make blending harder. Try another shot for that face, or Undo.
How do I clear my history?
On Android, tap the trash icon on a fix under Recent fixes, or clear the app's data. On iPhone, swipe a fix to remove it. Uninstalling the app removes all history. Your saved photos stay in your gallery either way.
Does it work with videos or Live Photos?
Not yet. Open Eyes works with still photos.
